With the training camp docket officially set, here's a breakdown of important dates upcoming for the Denver Broncos:

Tuesday, July 24: Rookies report to camp

The Broncos' 10-man draft class, led by top pick Bradley Chubb, along with their undrafted free agent signings, will be the first to converge in Dove Valley following a six-week break. This is standard operating procedure for rooks to arrive prior to the veterans. Seniority rules.

Friday, July 27: Vets make way

Seasoned guys get a few extra days of relaxation before the dog days of August take hold. Once everyone is in the building, players will undergo physicals and attend meetings with the coaching staff. Head coach Vance Joseph likely will address the team as a whole on the eve of the first practice.

Saturday, July 28: Opening practice

The festivities begin at 9:30 a.m. MT with the inaugural practice of 2018 training camp, scheduled to run until noon. As with all 13 practices, which are free of charge, gates will open 90 minutes prior to the on-field festivities, at 8 a.m., and fans are permitted to park beginning at 7 a.m.

Tuesday, Aug. 7: Deadline for players to report to team

Barring a shocking turn of events, the Broncos won't have any holdouts, but just in case, this is the final day for players to earn an accrued season for free agency.

Saturday, Aug. 11: Preseason opener

Denver welcomes Kirk Cousins and the Minnesota Vikings to town for Week 1 of the preseason, with the tilt set for a 7:05 p.m. MT kickoff from the stadium formerly known as Sports Authority Field (now Broncos Stadium at Mile High). This is a revenge game of sorts for quarterbacks Case Keenum, who left Minnesota for the Broncos in free agency, and Trevor Siemian, who was subsequently shipped to the Vikings.

Tuesday, Aug. 14 and Wednesday, Aug. 15: Joint practices with Bears

Camp comes to a close at the UCHealth Training Center after the Broncos and Chicago Bears work together ahead of their exhibition meeting. This is a departure from the previous two years, when Denver practiced jointly with the San Francisco 49ers.

Saturday, Aug. 18: Preseason Week 2 vs. Bears

The Broncos stay put to host Chicago at 7:05 p.m. MT. The teams faced each other in the 2017 preseason opener; the Broncos won, 24-17. This is a homecoming for former Broncos wide receiver Bennie Fowler, who signed a one-year deal with the Bears this offseason.

Friday, Aug. 24: Regular season dress rehearsal

Preseason Week 3 brings about the closest simulation to games that, you know, count, when the Broncos travel to Washington to take on old pal Alex Smith and the Redskins. Denver's starters should see action into the third quarter of the matchup, which is slated to get underway at 5:30 p.m. MT.

Thursday, Aug. 30: Preseason finale

Mercifully, the Broncos conclude preseason play with their annual finale against the Cardinals, who, interestingly enough, they'll also meet during the regular season. This is considered a showcase for bottom-of-the-roster types fighting for their jobs ahead of cutdown day. Don't expect to see Keenum or ... well, any of the Broncos' key players in the desert. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. MT.

Saturday, Sept. 1: Roster cutdown day

By 4 p.m. ET, all 32 teams must trim their rosters to 53 players. Some of those who meet The Turk will return on eight-man practice squads. It's on this day that camp practices and preseason film are greatly valued. The action won't be as explosive as last year, when the Broncos cut starting safety T.J. Ward and reunited with quarterback Brock Osweiler, among other moves.
