The Longhorns will soon hit the road for Manhattan, Kansas as Texas takes on Kansas State for the second to last game of the 2020 regular season. Texas opened the week as an 8.5-point favorite over Kansas State, and the line has since moved up and down, still in the Longhorns' favor as they sit as a one touchdown favorite over the Wildcats for Saturday's 11 a.m. kickoff as of Thursday evening.

On this week's preview episode of The Flagship Podcast, one of our favorite guests joins the show in long-time K-State beat writer and publisher of GoPowerCat.com, Tim Fitzgerald. Fitz joins Horns247 columnist Chip Brown to deliver and in-depth look into the Wildcats, who enter Saturday's game on a four-game losing streak following the season-ending injury of quarterback Skylar Thompson. Fitz gives the latest injury update out of Manhattan and what to expect from this Kansas State team that has been through plenty of adversity as the 2020 season has continued.

The loss to Iowa State not only sent the Longhorns' Big 12 title hopes out the window, it also could have impacted the future of the football program under Tom Herman's direction. On this week's episode of The Flagship Podcast, Horns247 columnist Chip Brown and managing editor Taylor Estes deliver the latest on where things stand with Herman's future at Texas and what is coming out of Urban Meyer's camp as a potential candidate to take over at Texas if the Longhorns choose to make a head coaching change.

After having the chance to control their own destiny in the 2020 Big 12 title race, the Longhorns' loss to Iowa State ended those hopes for Texas football. But the loss also could have long-term affects for the program and the current coaching staff.

On this week's reaction edition of The Flagship Podcast, Horns247 columnist Chip Brown and managing editor Taylor Estes weigh in on how the Black Friday loss to the Cyclones not only changes the rest of the season, including potentially leading to more players opting out of 2020, but it could also lead to a change at the top of the Texas Football food chain, beginning with Tom Herman. The Flagship co-hosts discuss what they're hearing about Herman's fate and the possibility of players bolting for the rest of the season without the hopes of playing for a Big 12 title still achievable.

Texas football has a chance to achieve something it hasn't accomplished in more than a decade: Win a Big 12 Conference title. After the Longhorns dropped back to back games to TCU and Oklahoma early in Big 12 play, all hope seemed to be lost in Texas making a conference title run. But Tom Herman's team has clawed its way back into the race and the Longhorns control their own destiny if they handle business in the next three games, with one of the biggest tests remaining still looming.

On this week's episode of The Flagship Podcast, Horns247 columnist Chip Brown and managing editor Taylor Estes break down Texas' upcoming Black Friday home game against No. 15 ranked Iowa State. Chip and Taylor weigh in on all the latest headlines leading up to the Longhorns' senior day game against the Cyclones and what to expect from this Iowa State team that is coming off of a statement win in a 45-0 dominant performance against Kansas State last weekend. The Flagship covers everything from injury updates entering Friday's game, how Herman's record after bye weeks only helps Texas even in an 11 a.m. kickoff and what it will take for the Longhorns to keep their conference championship hopes alive come Black Friday.

Note: This week's interview edition of The Flagship Podcast was recorded prior to the news that Texas' road game at Kansas had been postponed due to the Jayhawks not meeting the Big 12's COVID-19 position thresholds. With Texas and Kansas now set to face off on Dec. 12, this week's Flagship interview with Phog.net publisher Scott Chasen will serve as a way too early preview of the Jayhawks.
